Zilker Botanical Garden to temporarily close in October

Zilker Botanical Garden will temporarily shutter from Oct. 1-15, according to a news release from the city of Austin. The garden will close for facility abatement, renovations and maintenance, per the release. 

The context

The garden will be closed to the public during both weekends of Austin City Limits, which will take place Oct. 2-4 and 9-11. Additional planned closures through the end of the year include Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, according to the garden’s website.

The garden will reopen on Oct. 16, according to the release. However, the main building could remain closed for longer. 

Upon reopening, Zilker Botanical Garden will be open daily from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with the last group of visitors entering at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free for members and children 2 and under. All other admission costs vary by age and residence, ranging from $3-$8.
