Officials from the city of Austin have confirmed that Austin Water has no plans to shut off water sources.
During a press conference Feb. 2, Austin Water Director Shay Ralls Roalson said water operations have been in “24/7 operations since the event began.”
“Our treatment plants have operated normally and put plenty of water into the system,” she said. “Unlike Winter Storm Uri, we have not seen the widespread pipe breaks on the private side; on the public side, we have several dozen pump stations that move water around our system.”
Austin water officials also said they were working with Austin Energy to restore power when pump stations went out.
