Check out nine events for locals to attend in Austin in September and early October. Activities include visiting a pop-up cafe dedicated to “The Golden Girls” at Wanderlust Wine Co., attending Austin Bat Fest or visiting Meanwhile Brewing Co. for the brewery’s annual Lagers and Literature book fair.

'The Golden Girls' Kitchen
From Atlanta to Austin, Disney Entertainment and Bucket Listers are opening a pop-up restaurant that will serve up breakfast, lunch, desserts and drinks with nods to the show’s characters and storylines. Tickets will include a welcome drink and 90-minute seating.
This event celebrates the world’s largest urban bat colony beneath the Ann Richards Congress Street Bridge with live music, costume contests, children’s activities, food and more.
Meanwhile Brewing Co. is hosting its fifth annual book fair with award-winning authors, local booksellers, publishers, artists and literary organizations. The event will feature flash tattoos, over 20 vendors, button making and live screen printing.

Austinites can attend over 20 shows across four days, including performances by Bikini Kill, Die Spitz, The Garden and Lunar Vacation. The festival’s hub will be at Radio/East; other venues include Stubb’s, Mohawk, Empire, Hotel Vegas, Elysium and 13th Floor.

Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center is hosting its 19th annual Viva México celebration. The event commemorates Mexico’s Independence Day and the cultural traditions of the local Mexican, Mexican-American, Latino, Chicano and Tejano communities. The event will feature live music, dance performances, art activities, games and a vendor market.
Austin Resource Recovery is hosting a clinic to mend broken items like worn shirts, broken blenders or old toys. Attendees can learn repair skills with help from volunteers; individuals can bring up to two items excluding computers, cellphones and tablets.

Austin Museum Day
Locals can enjoy the 29th annual Austin Museum Day, which is set to feature over 30 Austin-area museums. Visitors can look forward to special programming, exhibition tours and activities for all ages. Participating museums include the Blanton Museum of Art and The Williamson Museum.
The conference will feature talks from 20 experts across the nation covering topics related to pediatric brain injury. Topics include acupuncture, herbal and regenerative medicine and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The conference also features supervised childcare and family-friendly activities.
Zilker Park will transform into the city’s famous music festival in early October. Austin City Limits will bring performances from Charli XCX, Twenty One Pilots, Leon Thomas and Suki Waterhouse. Some ticket options are sold out, though individuals can join the waitlist for more options.
