Barton Springs Nursery Showroom and Design Studio officially opened in mid-March, offering consultations, design services, installations and a curated selection of gifts, homegoods and furniture.
“That's my roots from how I started, and now it's coming full circle,” co-owner Amy Hovis said.
The context
Barton Springs Nursery opened in Austin four decades ago, offering Texas natives, seeds, bulbs, and plant advice from experts.
Hovis, owner of Eden Garden Design, an architectural landscaping business, and Greg Thomas bought the nursery five years ago and have since transformed and expanded it.
What they offer
The design studio offers consultations for individuals looking to do the work themselves, or for those seeking assistance with a full project.
“If you want a consultation about some pest problems, we can come,” Hovis said. “If you want a design installation or design advice, we can either do a consultation for DIY-ers... or we can do the full landscape design and build.”

The space also has a range of retail offerings, including books, skincare, textiles from Oaxaca, Mexico, home goods and furniture from brands such as Fermob and Tiptoe.
