Austin-area dance auditions nearing

Audition season for dance groups soon gets under way, and there are many opportunities out there for hopeful dancers.

Capital City Dance Team

The Austin Toros are seeking a new group of Capital City Dancers for the upcoming basketball season.

Dancers will perform at all Toros home games at the Cedar Park Center and various community events throughout the year. Hopefuls must be at least 18 years old with previous dance or cheerleading experience.

Auditions will take place August 23 will a prep session August 18. Anyone interested should register for try-outs before August 20 to ensure a $10 discount on the $35 registration fee.

Austin Children's Nutcracker

Auditions for the 14th annual production of Austin City Ballet's Nutcracker begin August 23.

Children age 7 and older will try out in their own age group. A variety of prep classes will be available until August 15.

Men with little movement experience are encouraged to try out. Pointe dancers with at least six months experience should bring their pointe shoes for auditions.

The audition fee is $20 with a discount offered for those who register before August 19. Call-back auditions will take place August 26.
