Cedar Park to open community center in old public library building

The city of Cedar Park will open RE|CREATE, its new community center and events space located in the old public library building, July 11, according to a news release.

The center will host various classes and activities, including dance, theater, fitness, visual arts, education, senior programs and more, the news release states.

RE|CREATE, located at 550 Discovery Blvd., will host an open house July 11. The space will be open from 4-7 p.m. for family-friendly programming. It will then close and reopen to adults only from 8-10 p.m. with shows, food and activities, the news release states.

The event is free to attend and open to the public.

The context

The parks and recreation department oversees the facility, which is being put to new use after the library moved to its new location in the Bell District in November 2024.

The 25,5000-square-foot building has been closed to the public since it ceased operating as the library, although it has been used by the city for some police training and meetings, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.

In July 2025, Cedar Park City Council approved a $4 million project to remodel the space that was recently completed.
