In August, Los Reyes Mexican Restaurant will celebrate its 20-year anniversary in Cedar Park, owners Aracelia and Michael Nambo said.
What’s on the menu
Los Reyes serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, all rooted in traditional Mexican cooking, the Nambos said. Popular dishes include tacos, enchiladas and the restaurant’s signature carne asada plate.
“All the cooking [is] my own recipes, and I try to keep it simple,” Michael Nambo said. “I want people to taste the natural ingredients.”
Everything is made in-house from scratch, the owners said, and they try their best to keep prices affordable.
“We know we’re not going to get rich off this, but we’re more fulfilled just seeing families gathering together and being a part of those shared experiences,” Aracelia Nambo said. “That’s what’s really rewarding.”
Meet the owners
The Nambos’ goal is to make every customer feel like family. The combination of good food, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere has helped cultivate strong relationships with regular customers over the years.
“We’re just trying to provide a way for people to connect,” Aracelia Nambo said.
The couple’s children have also worked at the restaurant and continue to fill in at times. The Nambos emphasized the restaurant’s family-centered atmosphere, describing it as a place where loved ones can gather and create lasting memories, just as their own family has for years.
“We want you to enjoy the food, have a good time with your family and really take advantage of having that time together,” Michael Nambo said.
Giving back
As the owners of Los Reyes see it, being active in the community is one of the most important parts of running a local business. In the past, they have partnered with Leander ISD to provide jobs for young people with disabilities, participated in fundraising initiatives, worked with local nonprofit groups like the Rotary Club and the Christian Resource Center, and more, Aracelia Nambo said.
“We want to continue to help the community out because if we take care of the community, the community will take care of us,” she said. “It’s just the golden rule. Treat everybody how you would want to be treated.”
One more thing
The owners of Los Reyes are planning a 20-year anniversary celebration Aug. 7. The party will include live mariachi music, discounted drinks and “throwback prices,” meaning dishes will cost the same amount they did when the restaurant first opened in 2006, the owners said.
