Cedar Park, Leander to offer tree limb, brush disposal following winter ice storm

There are other tree disposal options for Leander residents. Clawson Disposal will provide curbside pickup on brush 35 pounds or less on respective pickup days. The brush must be bundled and cut into 4-foot lengths or less, according to the city. Brush may also be dropped off on April 1 from 8 a.m. to noon at the city’s annual 2023 Spring Residential Cleanup.

Officials have also warned residents about people knocking door-to-door offering roof inspections and help with tree cleanup. Residents are encouraged to be cautious of who they let work on their homes—as they can be scammers—and to ask for a permit. In Leander, people offering help to residents must have a permit to assure legitimacy.

In Cedar Park, crews are working to remove any tree limbs that are blocking roadways and clearing the paths for motorists and emergency vehicles.

Though fallen trees and limb removal on private property are the owner’s responsibility, the city is offering options for assistance with disposal.

The fastest method is the utilization of bulk trash service through Central Texas Refuse, according to city staff. Residents can put up to seven additional items next to their garbage bin along the curb on their trash pickup day for free. Brush must be bundled, with each bundle being less than 40 pounds and no larger than 4 square feet.

The second option for Cedar Park residents is hiring a private tree service to assist at their own expense. Residents can also participate in city-led events.

Cedar Park city staff is working to organize a free, two-day brush drop off event on Feb. 11 and Feb. 12, according to the city. City staff is also working on putting together a citywide residential curbside pickup program, and the date has not yet been determined.
