Members of Cedar Park City Council on March 10 approved four resolutions that allow $950,000 to be spent on four new turn lane improvement projects throughout the city. The council approved a fifth resolution allowing $350,000 to be spent on new sidewalks. The Cedar Park Community Development Corporation, or 4B Board, recommended all five projects on Feb. 9. Members of the 4B Board can approve city projects financed by one-half of 1 cent of the city’s 2-cent sales tax. The council then votes to allow the projects to move forward. City staffers will design all the turn lanes as one project, said Tom Gdala, Cedar Park senior engineering associate. However, a construction timetable has not been specified. Turn lane projects include:

  • A right-turn lane from westbound Brushy Creek Road to Vista Ridge Boulevard—$250,000
  • A right-turn lane from westbound Brushy Creek Road at Lynnwood Trail—$250,000
  • A right-turn lane on southbound Lakeline Boulevard to Old Mill Road—$250,000
  • A new median opening and left-turn lane improvements on Discovery Boulevard south of Whitestone Boulevard—$200,000
The city will add new sidewalks at four locations:
  • Bell Boulevard between Whitestone and Walton Way
  • Cottonwood Creek Trail at Medical Parkway
  • Iris Lane north of Heather Lane
  • Hatch Road south of RM 620
As part of the sidewalks project, crews also plan to add new pedestrian ramps on two sidewalk locations near Giddens Elementary School and eight sidewalk locations on Carriage Hills Trail.
