Ronald Reagan Boulevard corridor planned for expansion in coming years

Because Williamson County has experienced a lot of growth in recent years and is expected to continue on the same path in the future, Odom said in an email that “transportation planning to keep pace with this growth is the county’s responsibility.”

“Additional lanes are required to improve connectivity, mobility and safety for residents, ultimately protecting their quality of life,” she said.

The roughly 30-mile project is broken up into the following five segments:

• Segment A: FM 1431 to Hwy. 29, 7.67 miles
• Segment B: Hwy. 29 to north of FM 3405, 7 miles
• Segment C: FM 3405 to Williams Drive, 3.7 miles
• Segment D: Williams Drive to SH 195, 5 miles
• Segment E: SH 195 to I-35, 6 miles

What happens next?

Odom said planning for each of the corridor segments is nearly complete. However, the county is still working on securing funding for multiple segments in the project, so no construction timeline or cost estimate for some of the segments has been determined.

The only portion of the project with secured funding from the voter-approved 2023 Williamson County Road Bond for its design is from FM 3405 to Sun City Boulevard, which is in segments C and D, Odom said.

She said the design cost for this portion is $10 million and construction is estimated to be $97 million. Design is anticipated to reach completion in late 2025, with construction expected to begin in early 2026.
