Construction on a long-term project to expand New Hope drive from Blockhouse Drive to CR 180 and add an innovative intersection at 138A Toll began Sept. 16.
What to expect
Once fully completed, the existing four lanes will be expanded to six lanes along this stretch of the road. Additionally, the innovative intersection, which will feature a design similar to the one at Whitestone Boulevard, will feature a design similar to the one at Whitestone Boulevard and Parmer Lane, is intended to limit travel delays and increase room for vehicles, according to a city news release.
To kick off the project, the medians along New Hope Drive will be removed and replaced with asphalt. Drivers can expect periodic lane closures that will result in one lane in each direction. This first phase of the project began Sept. 16 and is slated to last three weeks, according to the release.
