The city of Cedar Park is making progress on several transportation projects, including the extension of Toro Grande Boulevard and changes to the intersection of New Hope Drive and 183A that drivers should be aware of.
Randy Lueders, the city's director of engineering and capital projects, updated City Council on the projects at its Jan. 22 meeting.
New Hope Drive and 183A
Lueders said traffic control changes will be coming to the intersection of New Hope Drive and 183A in the coming months, likely in March.
A long-term project is underway to expand the roadway, adding lanes and reshaping the intersection. The project is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2027.
Toro Grande Boulevard
The city is also making progress on the Toro Grande Boulevard project that includes improvements to the roadway between New Hope Drive and Whitestone Boulevard and the construction of new stretches of road connecting Whitestone Boulevard to Parmer Lane, according to Lueders.
The construction of additional lanes on the stretch north of Whitestone Boulevard is underway.
South of Whitestone Boulevard, land has been cleared and smoothed for the new roadway, including cutting through some areas of rock. The expansion will include building a new bridge over Brushy Creek. The foundations of the bridge are currently under construction.
The Toro Grande Boulevard project is expected to be completed in Fall 2027.
Bell District to 183A Shared-use Path
Construction is underway on a shared-use path that will connect 183A to Bell Park. It will be a 10-foot-wide concrete path following along Brushy Creek Road.
Lueders said crews have begun building the path itself, as well as working on utility relocations and drainage infrastructure.
Lane closures on the roads along the path will be ongoing to allow crews to work safely.
The project is anticipated to be completed in Fall 2026.
