Cedar Park City Council cleared a $360,000 contract for the design of the Bell District shared-use path, or SUP, project Feb. 22.
About the project
The Bell District shared-use path would provide a connection from the existing SUP on the west side of Bell Boulevard to the existing SUP on the east side of 183A Toll, Capital Projects Manager Chris Brickey said during the Feb. 22 City Council meeting.
Stretching 4,000 linear feet, the new SUP will link the Bell District to the 183A Toll SUP and the Brushy Creek Regional Trail. The new path will also include a pedestrian crossing at the Capital Metro Railroad.
Brickey said project design and construction will be funded through the city’s 2022 bond program. Information on the project’s construction timeline was not available at the time of publication.

Cedar Park officials are seeking community feedback on a proposed arts collective project, located south of the Bell District at 201 Buttercup Creek Blvd.
The project would serve as a community gathering place and allow visitors to experience multiple forms of visual, multimedia and performing arts, according to city documents.
While it’s all preliminary, officials said staff is looking to build a multipurpose center on the property that includes a theater, a gallery, three flexible art classrooms, a rentable multipurpose room, and indoor and outdoor informal gathering areas.
The community’s feedback will be used to guide the design, future programming and operational model of the space, according to city documents.
