The construction of “Big 6” continues with the closure of several mainlanes and exit ramps throughout the week of June 8 in College Station.

What you need to know

  • June 8: Single-lane closure, 8:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • The northbound right mainline on Southwest Parkway and Harvey Road will be closed. Traffic will be directed to the left lane and the northbound entrance ramp south of Harvey Road will be closed.
  • June 8-9: Full closure, 8:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • Northbound mainlines from Rock Prairie Road to Southwest Parkway will be closed.
    • All of the northbound traffic must use the Rock Prairie exit ramp and the northbound entrance ramps south of Barron Road and Harvey Mitchell Parkway will also be closed.
    • Northbound mainlanes from Southwest Parkway and University Drive will be closed.
    • The northbound exit ramps south of Southwest Parkway and Harvey Road will also be closed.
    • Southbound mainlanes from Martin Luther King/Old Reliance Road to Briarcrest Drive will be closed.
    • Traffic will have to exit William J. Bryan Parkway and reenter on Briarcrest. The Martin Luther King/Old Reliance Road and William J. Bryan Parkway will also be closed.
  • June 10: Full closure, 8:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • Northbound mainlines from Briarcrest Drive to Martin Luther King and Old Reliance Road will be closed.
    • Northbound traffic will exit on William J. Brian Parkway and reenter south of Martin Luther King and Old Reliance Road and the entrance ramps south of Briarcrest Drive and William J. Bryan Parkway will be closed.
  • June 11: Exit ramp closure, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • The northbound Texas Avenue exit ramp is closed due to road paving and traffic will have to turn left on Southwest Parkway to access the road.
  • June 12: Full closure, 8:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • The southbound mainlanes from Harvey Mitchell Parkway to Barron Road will be closed.
    • Southbound traffic will have to exit Rock Prairie and reenter on Barron Road. The entrance ramps north of Harvey Mitchell Parkway and Texas Avenue will also be closed.
    • There will be a temporary exit closure of the southbound Barron Road exit ramp until July 3.
What’s next

The Texas Department of Transportation says drivers will have two lanes of access in each direction throughout the next six months of construction. Crews are focusing the work on the mainlanes, along with construction of temporary pavement and retaining walls.
