Construction continues on the Texas Department of Transportation's "Big 6" project, with overnight lane closures planned along the southbound frontage road of Hwy. 6.

Drivers should expect overnight single-lane and ramp closures between May 4-7.

  • May 4: Single-lane closures, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • Southbound frontage road between Krenek Tap Road and Harvey Mitchell/Emerald parkways
      • The right lane will close while crews install traffic barriers.
    • Southbound frontage road between Mile Drive and Deacon Drive/Texas Avenue
      • Alternating lane closures will take place while TxDOT performs paving work. First will be the left lane from Mile Drive to Deacon Drive/Texas Avenue signal. The second step is a right lane closure from Mile Drive to Deacon Drive/Texas Avenue signal.
      • The northbound Texas Avenue off ramp will also be closed.
  • May 5-7: Single-lane closure, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
    • Southbound frontage road between Krenek Tap Road and Harvey Mitchell Parkway/Emerald Parkway
      • The right lane will close for traffic barrier installation.
