Construction continues on the Texas Department of Transportation's "Big 6" project, with overnight lane closures planned along the southbound frontage road of Hwy. 6.
What you need to know
Drivers should expect overnight single-lane and ramp closures between May 4-7.
- May 4: Single-lane closures, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
- Southbound frontage road between Krenek Tap Road and Harvey Mitchell/Emerald parkways
- The right lane will close while crews install traffic barriers.
- Southbound frontage road between Mile Drive and Deacon Drive/Texas Avenue
- Alternating lane closures will take place while TxDOT performs paving work. First will be the left lane from Mile Drive to Deacon Drive/Texas Avenue signal. The second step is a right lane closure from Mile Drive to Deacon Drive/Texas Avenue signal.
- The northbound Texas Avenue off ramp will also be closed.
- Southbound frontage road between Krenek Tap Road and Harvey Mitchell/Emerald parkways
- May 5-7: Single-lane closure, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
- Southbound frontage road between Krenek Tap Road and Harvey Mitchell Parkway/Emerald Parkway
- The right lane will close for traffic barrier installation.
- Southbound frontage road between Krenek Tap Road and Harvey Mitchell Parkway/Emerald Parkway
Crews will continue construction work along Hwy. 6's mainlanes over the next six months. Drivers should expect ongoing nightly closures as work continues.
