Aggieland Humane Society is celebrating one year of its pet food pantry in June, a program that has helped local pet parents keep their animals fed during difficult times.
What’s new
Since launching in 2025, the pantry has distributed nearly 42,000 meals to pets across the region.
The monthly drive-thru program provides supplemental pet food at no cost, helping families bridge temporary gaps in resources while keeping pets in their homes.
Volunteer and Events Coordinator Bella Hillman told Community Impact in April how the pantry has become a vital community resource, with some pet owners relying on it each month.
“Some of these pet pantry clients, they come every single month for us, and they rely on us to be able to help them through the things that they need,” she said. “Because sometimes those pet parents, even though they have that fixed income, they are the best pet owners we see.”

Aggieland Humane will host two events in both Bryan and College Station on June 12.
The humane society is also accepting donations to restock its pantry shelves ahead of its next distribution day.

The milestone comes as the humane society also approaches the one-year anniversary of hiring shelter veterinarian Dr. Alex Pruitt. Since joining the organization last June, Pruitt has expanded the shelter’s ability to perform medical procedures in-house, including amputations, blood transfusions and advanced diagnostics.

Aggieland Humane Society takes in between 3,500 and 4,000 animals each year and currently has about 2,000 registered volunteers supporting programs ranging from dog walking and fostering to community outreach events.
The Pet food pantry is held 4-6 p.m. on the first Monday of each month.
