PREVIEW: Brazos County to fill multiple vacant positions in different sectors

The Brazos County Commissioners Court is set to fill a variety of positions in multiple sectors during its Aug. 4 meeting.

The overview

The court is looking to fill positions in facilities maintenance and four positions working for the Exposition Complex. According to agenda material, all positions have been left vacant for six months or longer, and the court needs to authorize the department to begin recruitment.

The positions are listed as:

• Maintenance Tech II position in the Facilities Services Department, which includes technical work on pipes, water systems and various cooking equipment

Expo Complex:

• Clerk III
• Receptionist
• Assistant manager-Fair Administration
• Event Coordinator II

The expansion of positions comes after the announcement that the Expo Complex is receiving $11.5 million for deferred maintenance projects from the county. The complex is known for hosting rodeo competitions, but can also be used for a variety of events.

The court is set to approve the continued use of Texas A&M University’s Psychology Clinic counseling, along with fiscal year 2026-27 legal services for child welfare. More included items are:

• Consider multiple Grand Prix Pipeline utility permits: Grand Prix has been working for months to install 30-inch LNG pipeline crossings along Brazos County roads. In this round, Precinct 2 would receive eight crossings.
• An acceptance of a donation to the sheriff’s office for firearms
• Miscellaneous payments and claims
