'We need to start making money': Brazos County commissioners debate expo staffing
Brazos County commissioners voted in favor of creating four new positions at the Brazos County Expo Complex but also denied other positions because of taxpayer concerns and resource allocation during the Aug. 4 meeting.
The court agreed the revenue of the complex needs to increase for some positions to be justifiable.
“We need to start making money,” Precinct 3 Commissioner Fred Brown said. “We need to look at it as a profit center and not as a loss, because all we’ve been doing is losing profit every year.”
Brazos County considers $10M 911 facility in FY 2027 capital plan
A proposed $10 million 911 facility is the largest project included in Brazos County’s proposed $12.9 million capital improvement plan for fiscal year 2026-27. Commissioners reviewed the proposed projects during an Aug. 4 workshop
Brazos County 911 officials said the move to the new facility is attributed to a growing workforce along with offering “more space, secure parking, and a reliable physical plant to house our operation.”
