Bryan ISD approves new ParentSquare calling system, telecommunications upgrades
Bryan ISD trustees approved a telecommunications system upgrade at their June 1 meeting, providing staff with a new tool for communicating with families while helping protect personal phone numbers.
This new tool will allow teachers to make and receive calls and text messages through a dedicated school phone number on both smartphones and computers.

Bryan ISD approves balanced 2026-27 budget amid enrollment, funding challenges
Bryan ISD trustees approved a balanced $186.5 million operating budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year during their June 15 meeting, despite ongoing challenges tied to declining enrollment, stagnant state funding and rising costs.
Payroll remains the district’s largest expense, accounting for more than 86% of the operating budget.

College Station ISD approves 2026-27 budget with $8.3M shortfall
College Station ISD trustees approved the district's fiscal year 2026-27 budget June 16, which includes an estimated $8.3 million deficit as district officials battle with declining enrollment, rising costs and major facility needs. However, this number could be lower before the next school year starts.
The approved budget includes a 3% employee compensation increase, staffing additions for career and technical education programs and funding to meet increased state security requirements.

Bryan ISD votes to invest in new bus navigation system
During the June 15 Bryan ISD school board meeting, trustees voted to adopt the use of the Wayfinder application, a new navigation system for its buses.
Buses will eventually be equipped with a digital roster of students for identification purposes, including information and photos of the students to help with time management and safety.

College Station ISD votes to change employee health insurance, citing rising costs with current provider
College Station ISD board members voted June 16 in favor of changing the employee health insurance benefits and plan from Blue Cross Blue Shield to Baylor Scott & White for the 2026-27 school year.
Data presented by Anco Area President Ross Gunnels at the meeting showed the overall rate of the Blue Cross Blue Shield plan increased 27.9% from the previous year, with an overall increase of 47.1% over the last three years.
