Bryan-College Station will see closures of all types throughout both cities for the Hwy. 6 road project during the week of Sept. 8-11.
'Big 6' is a long-term TxDOT project along Hwy. 6 through Bryan and College Station, aimed at helping the growing cities handle increasing traffic.
What you need to know
- Sept. 8: Full closure of the southbound mainlanes from Rock Prairie to Barron Road, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
- All traffic will exit south of Barron Road and re-enter north of the road. Both the northbound and southbound Texas Avenue ramps will also be closed, with the northbound ramp closed for paving operations.
- Single-lane closures will occur on the northbound mainlanes on Corporate Parkway and Barron Road for dirt work and on the northbound and southbound lanes of University and Briarcrest drives for utility work.
- Sept. 9: Various single-lane closures from Briarcrest to University drives, 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
- The northbound and southbound mainlanes will be closed for dirt work, and the southbound frontage road will be closed for existing guardrail removal and bridge demolition.
- Both the northbound Texas Avenue and southbound Barron Road exit ramps will be closed for paving operations, and the frontage road left lane between Rock Prairie and Barron roads will be closed to set up traffic barriers.
- Sept. 10: Daytime turnaround closure of William D. Fitch Parkway, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Both the northbound and southbound turnarounds will be closed during the daytime for utility work.
- The northbound and southbound mainlanes will be closed for dirt work from Briarcrest to University drives, along with the southbound frontage road for existing guardrail removal and bridge demolition.
- The northbound Texas Avenue exit ramp will be closed for a traffic pattern change.
- Sept. 11: Single-lane closure of the northbound and southbound lanes from University to Briarcrest drives, 7:30 p.m.-noon.
- Both the northbound mainlane left lane from University to Briarcrest drives and the southbound mainlane left lane from Briarcrest to University drives will be closed for dirt work in the center median from 7:30 p.m.-6:30 a.m.
- The southbound frontage road from Briarcrest to University drives will be closed for existing guardrail removal and bridge demolition.
