West University Place officials received $250,000 from the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program to conduct a pedestrian safety plan.
What this means
City Council approved an agreement between the city and the FHWA and allocated the funding for a Safety Action Plan.
The Safety Action Plan will bind the city’s 2-square-mile mobility network and will include information such as:
- Crash data and risk analysis
- Network screening
- Public engagement
- Strategy and countermeasure development
- Implementation of framework and evaluation metrics
- Plan development with actionable items
- Adoption of the plan
