Houston ISD is inviting community members to apply for a spot on its special education parent advisory committee. The committee is tasked with providing input on parent involvement, instruction and support, compliance and monitoring, and professional development, according to an HISD release. The group of 18 parents, four principals and four community partners meets four times each calendar year. The district requires members to be parents of students with disabilities in HISD and community members with relevant professional experience. Applications must be submitted by Aug. 30, and members are selected by lottery.
