West University City Council advanced its water pipe replacement project aimed at improving how the city distributes water.
Council members unanimously approved the $2.4 million construction contract in April for the Milton Street Water Line Project with ISJ Underground Utilities LLC. The project will replace dated cast iron pipes in order to reduce the risks of leaks or breaks that will improve how the city distributes water, according to city officials.

“This would allow the city some flexibility in terms of water tank location,” Mayor Pro Tem John Montgomery said.
