Upcoming projects

Hobbs Road extension to FM 517

Project: This project includes constructing roughly 1,880 feet of a four-lane roadway. Initially, the two southbound lanes will be constructed, while the northbound lanes will be built at a later date.

Update: The project is in the Texas Department of Transportation permitting and right-of-way acquisition phase. Two of five parcels have been acquired, and the remaining are in process. The TxDOT permit could be in hand by the end of April.

• Timeline: bid schedule planned for summer 2026 unless issues with right-of-way acquisition arise
• Cost: CIP project budget is $10.34 million (project budget), with Galveston County contributing $2 million toward roadway construction
• Funding source: city funds and Galveston County

Maple Leaf intersection improvements

Project: The project includes adding a traffic signal to the Maple Leaf intersection of League City Parkway.

Update: The project is currently out for bids.

• Timeline: construction award is planned for May 2026 and construction phase to begin summer 2026 and slated completion at the end of 2026
• Cost: $790,000
• Funding source: capital projects funds from city

Ongoing project

Drainage improvements for FM 518 at Wesley Drive

Project: This is a drainage improvement project consisting of the installation of large pipes, storm boxes and inlets along and across FM 518 and Wesley Drive to improve drainage at the intersection area.

Update: Construction started at the end of March.

• Timeline: projected completion by end of 2026 or early 2027
• Cost: $2.845 million (construction)
• Funding source: major portion coming from federal fund sources with remainder from GO Bond
