Kemah City Council will discuss the use of Flock Safety automated license plate reader cameras at its Sept. 2 meeting.
What residents should know
City staff will hear from council members for direction on items to investigate surrounding the city’s use of the cameras, City Manager Cesar Garcia said.
There are over 40 license plate readers and other cameras in Kemah, according to Flock Safety.

In August, League City became the first city in Texas to call a special election for voters to weigh in on whether the police department should continue to use Flock cameras, according to previous reporting by Community Impact.
However, the election results will be non-binding, meaning League City City Council will retain the authority to determine the city’s policy on Flock cameras, regardless of the outcome.
