League City mayor files for reelection, challenged by council member

League City Mayor Nick Long filed for re-election, but he is being challenged by council member Tom Crews.

In November, voters will have the opportunity to elect candidates to five open City Council seats.

On the ballot

The candidate filing period for the Nov. 3 election opened July 20 and ends Aug. 17, according to the city’s website.

So far, the candidates who have filed are:

Mayor

• Nick Long, incumbent
• Tom Crews, who currently serves in Council position 3

City Council, Position 1

• Robert Bruce
• Gordon Bethel

City Council, Position 2

• Tommy Cones, incumbent

City Council, Position 6

• Sean Doyle

City Council, Position 7

• Sean Saunders, incumbent

Looking ahead

The election will take place Nov. 3 with early voting running from Oct. 19-30, according to the city’s website.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on election day, and from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. for early voting.
