Community leaders and the public met Feb. 28 for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Challenger 7 Memorial Park in Webster to celebrate the completion of $5.3 million in upgrades to enhance the park.
The details
The upgrades include the following, according to a Feb. 28 news release from Harris County Precinct 2:
- Fully renovated boardwalk
- New overlook pavilions
- Floating kayak launch
- Boat ramp improvements
- Additional walking trails
- Renovated space-themed playground
The ribbon-cutting was attended by dignitaries, including Adrian Garcia, Harris County Precinct 2 Commissioner; Rahman Milton, executive director of the Office of the County Engineer; and Bernard Harris, the first African American astronaut to walk in space, according to the release.
