Newcomer Scott Bowen will serve on the Clear Creek ISD board of trustees after the May 4 election. Bowen received 1,512 votes, or 53.45% of total votes, and incumbent Ann Hammond received 1,317 votes, or a total of 46.55%. Both ran for Hammond’s at-large Position B chair. During a candidate forum, Bowen said his biggest priority would be to learn the ins and outs of being a trustee and absorb information to get acquainted with the responsibilities of the new role. He reiterated that goal during a call with Community Impact Newspaper. “I feel the weight of responsibility. Now I have to deliver on everything I stand for and campaigned on,” Bowen said. From a policy standpoint, Bowen has said he wants to ensure the district’s school security upgrades and recent special education program recommendations are all implemented. Bowen wants to bring a new perspective to the board and serve in the best interests of students and parents, he said. Incumbent Laura DuPont, who ran unopposed, was re-elected to her own Position 1 seat. All results are unofficial until canvassed.
