Houston Restaurant Weeks food bank fundraiser returns for its 22nd year

“The Houston Food Bank is so grateful to again be the beneficiary of Houston Restaurant Weeks,” Brian Greene, president and CEO of Houston Food Bank, said via news release. “The funds raised by this event are more critical than ever, at a time when food banks are experiencing both funding cuts and increased need in the community.”

The Cleverley Stone Foundation has modified donation amounts to $1, $3, and $5 per Houston restaurant in response to the rising costs in the restaurant industry, according to the news release.

Starting July 15, diners can visit the Houston Restaurant Weeks’ website to view the list of participating restaurants. Restaurants will be added up until Aug. 1. From award-winning fine dining to casual local restaurants, diners can sample a variety of cuisines.

The impact

Houston Restaurant Weeks was created in 2003 to help bolster Houston’s restaurant industry in August, historically the slowest month for restaurants nationwide, according to the news release. As a result, August in Houston has become the most profitable month for most participants and industry suppliers.

The fundraiser has grown to be the largest nationwide and has raised over $22 million since its inception, which has provided over 66 million meals for people who are food insecure, according to the news release.
