The following story has been updated to reflect the new date of the event on Nov. 14. The event was postponed due to weather concerns.
Live music, food and refreshments will be available at the 100th birthday celebration of the Old Iron Bridge in downtown Bastrop from 5:30-8 p.m. on Nov. 14 at Neighbor's Kitchen and Yard. A lighting of the bridge will take place at dusk.
Efforts to repair the bridge are set begin in early 2024. Plans are in place to reopen the bridge for pedestrian traffic following construction.
Despite not receiving a grant for the bridge, there will be a call for bonds in December to pay for the bridge's repair.
