2 Bastrop roads awaiting extension, construction

Located south of Hwy. 71 behind Ascension Seton Hospital, Agnes Street will be widened from two to four lanes and extended to intersect with Sterling Boulevard.

Approval of the extension was made by Bastrop City Council in December. Hazard mitigation grant funds will be used to complete the majority of the project.

The details

The project will include the construction of a sidewalk along Agnes Street. The roadway construction and purchase of land used in the right of way is expected to cost about $4.3 million.

Various construction projects are planned along Agnes Street, including the construction of a new Days Inn, WoodSpring Suites and Everhome Suites.

Also of note

Construction of a new street, Financial Way, located within Bastrop Business and Industrial Park, will extend to the east of the existing Jackson Street. The city of Bastrop selected 304 Construction, LLC from the five bids made for the project.

Design for the project is fully complete and awaiting construction.
