Bastrop County residents can celebrate Independence Day with fireworks, parades, live music, history programs and family-friendly activities June 28-July 4.
1. Celebrating the Spirit of the Declaration of Independence
The Bastrop County Historical Commission will host readings from the Declaration of Independence, along with related letters and speeches, plus music from the Bastrop Patriotic Singers.
2. Bastrop River Club Independence Day Celebration
Guests can enjoy vendors, live music and fireworks.
3. Bastrop’s Annual Big Bang Celebration
The city will offer a pet and bike parade, activities and lawn games, vendors, live music, bounce houses, water slides and fireworks.
4. Big Bang at the Museum
Visitors can sign the Declaration of Independence with a quill, make flags, play history trivia, sign the Revolutionary Wall and win prizes for dressing up as an American history figure.
5. Smithville Main Street Americana 250th Birthday Bash
The event will offer a craft area to decorate kids bicycles prior to the parade, along with kids activities, downtown shopping specials, free food, a cake walk, cash bar, bingo, live music and fireworks.
6. Elgin VFW 4th of July Celebration: 250 Years
Cupcake and cookie roulette, vendors, water slides, live music, a silent auction and fireworks.
7. Fireworks on the River
Bastrop River Co. will offer a kayak-viewing experience for Bastrop’s Big Bang fireworks. Participants must be at least 10 years old.
