11,985-square-foot retail center to be built in Bastrop’s Adelton community

Developers have announced plans for a retail center in Adelton, marking a major step toward delivering the first shops and services for the mixed-use, master-planned community in Bastrop.

The retail center, which will offer 11,985 square feet of total space, will begin construction in mid-2027, said Taylor Medlin, a spokesperson for Adelton developers Benchmark Austin.

Hwy. 290 extension could improve travel between Travis and Bastrop counties

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is planning for a 290 Extension Project—improvements that would reduce congestion between Hwy. 130 and Hwy. 95 South.

The Mobility Authority is working with the Texas Department of Transportation on a schematic design and an environmental study with other partners, including:

• Travis County
• Bastrop County
• City of Manor
• City of Elgin
• Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization

  

Bastrop to get second McDonald’s location

Another McDonald’s location is planned along Hwy. 71, bringing a new pair of Golden Arches to Bastrop.

The 4,304-square-foot project, estimated to cost $1.5 million, could break ground in early October with a completion date in late March, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

42-home Bastrop pocket community sparks debate

The Bastrop community voiced concerns over a proposed 42-home, 4-acre development called North End Prairie during a City Council meeting March 11.

Representing herself and a dozen neighbors, resident Heather Green said they are worried about the project’s impact on the area’s parking, drainage and traffic.
