Baylor Scott & White Health told Community Impact Newspaper on Thursday that its new medical center in Oak Hill is set to open in 2019.

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Austin Oak Hill, located at 5251 Hwy. 290, will offer inpatient hospital services as well as primary care and specialty care clinics, according to the news release.

“We continue demonstrating our commitment to Central Texas communities by improving access to high-quality, comprehensive health care,” said Jay Fox, president of Baylor Scott & White Austin/Round Rock Region, in the release. “We couldn’t be more excited to announce the construction of our first medical center in Austin at Oak Hill and look forward to delivering safe, high-quality care and service to residents in this vibrant and growing community.”

The medical center aims to increase patient care coordination through a single electronic medical record, allowing hospital and clinic caregivers to work together seamlessly and prevent unnecessary medical tests, reduce wait times and ultimately improve the patient experience. The Austin Oak Hill medical center will also offer walk-in appointments and extended hours of operations, including weekends, according to the release.

“Communities’ needs are ever-changing, and providing a range of services will help make health care more convenient for the people we serve,” said Dr. Robin Watson, chief medical officer, Baylor Scott & White Austin/Round Rock Region, in the release. “By offering convenient access points to serve communities throughout our five-county service area, we are showing what we mean by our focus on wellness, not just sick care.”
