The Texas Department of Transportation is reconstructing the bridge structures over I-35 at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive. In late March, the north half of the William Cannon Drive bridge was demolished and work has begun on the two new U-turn bridges. The Stassney Lane U-turn bridges are also under construction and progressing.

The next major milestone for the project will be in mid-May, when beams for the new William Cannon bridge are set. In early summer, the other half of the William Cannon bridge will be demolished, with the Stassney bridge demolition slated to be complete in late summer. Periodic closures of the bridges will be in place during major construction; however, both bridges will remain open to traffic outside of this work.

This past winter, crews wrapped up Phase 1 of the project. Highlights include the construction of the northbound frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek and construction of the first phase of the southbound frontage road bridge.
