Sara Wilson named Sunset Valley interim city administrator

Although City Administrator Clay Collins is not retiring until April 30, Sunset Valley City Council has already appointed Assistant City Administrator Sara Wilson as his interim replacement starting May 1.

Council discussed making Wilson the interim during closed session March 19. After reconvening in open session, council approved the action with a 4-1 vote. Council Member Phil Ellett was the lone vote against the action.

Earlier this month, City Council selected recruiting firm Strategic Government Resources to help the city conduct a city administrator search. According to a timeline provided by SGR, a permanent city administrator will likely not be hired until mid-July at the earliest.

Council also set a three-hour public workshop with SGR for March 26 to further discuss the hiring process. The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. at 3205 Jones Road, Sunset Valley.
