A new shared-use path that stretches for over a mile along Sawyer Ranch Road opened in Hays County on Oct. 23.
In a virtual ribbon-cutting posted to YouTube on Nov. 6, Hays County Commissioner Walt Smith said the 10-foot shared use path was designed to accommodate both pedestrians and cyclists.
“This was an important safety project for the county with the opening of the Sycamore Springs Elementary and Middle schools in 2017,” he said. “This path is just one step to enhance safety and improve connectivity for the community.”
The project is one of the first funded through Hays County’s 2016 transportation bond, with an estimated cost of $139,000, according to county documents.
