The overview
The schematic design outlines several renovations the district plans to make over the next two years.
Some key improvements include:
- Exterior and interior finish upgrades
- Safety and security upgrades
- Heating, ventilation and air conditioning replacement
- An additional second-floor bathroom
- Ceiling tile replacement
- Floor replacement
- Lockdown buttons every 4,000 square feet
- Card reader installation for all exterior doors
Officials said they are considering different options for flooring, keeping comfort in mind.
“I’ve heard a lot of complaining about the flooring that we’re putting in,” board member Tricia Quintero said. “It’s hurting the teachers’ backs.”
How it’s funded
Funding for renovations at Rooster Springs Elementary School was included in a 2025 voter-approved bond. Proposition A allocated $76.9 million for improvements to the elementary school and Dripping Springs High School.
Looking ahead
District officials anticipate that construction will need to be completed over two summers. If they secure a contractor in the expected timeframe, construction will begin in the summer of 2026.
