New cell phone policy

Students will no longer be able to use personal communication devices from the time they enter campus in the morning until they leave at the end of the school day. This includes restrictions during passing periods and lunch.

Prohibited devices include:
  • Cell phones
  • Tablets
  • Smartwatches
  • Earbuds and wireless headphones
  • Radio or paging devices
  • Personal computers
  • Gaming devices
  • Fitness trackers with messaging capabilities

Students will need to leave devices at home or powered off and stored away such as in backpacks, lockers or vehicles.

The new policy comes from a new state law, House Bill 1481, which requires Texas public schools to restrict student access to personal communication devices while on campus.
