Dripping Springs ISD officials named Melissa Oliver, current Rooster Springs Elementary assistant principal, as the school’s newest principal following a board meeting March 31.

Her new appointment comes after former principal Steve Novickas’ departure to serve as principal of the new Wildwood Springs Elementary.

The details

Oliver has served as assistant principal of Rooster Springs for the past two years. In her time at the elementary school, “She has built a reputation for promoting academic excellence, cultivating a positive school culture and providing effective instructional leadership,” DSISD officials said in a news release.

Superintendent Holly Morris-Kuentz said she is confident in Oliver’s leadership of Rooster Springs.

“Throughout her tenure, she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, a deep commitment to student growth, and a tireless dedication to the students, staff and Rooster Springs community,” Superintendent Holly Morris-Kuentz said. “Mrs. Oliver is a strong leader, and we are confident that her leadership will take the campus to new heights of success and achievement.”

Before working at DSISD, Oliver spent nine years at Austin ISD’s Kocurek Elementary. She was an instructional coach and academic interventionist for three years and served as a fifth grade English as a Second Language teacher for six years, according to the news release.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Western Governors University Texas and earned a Master of Education Administration from Concordia University, Nebraska.
