Spring State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, results were released by the Texas Education Agency, or TEA, on Aug. 16.

Dripping Springs ISD students in grades 3-8 continue to have higher passing averages than the rest of the state since 2021, and higher passing averages for reading than for math.

Diving in deeper

DSISD students demonstrated academic growth over the past two years in most subjects.

Average passage rates were higher than what they were in 2022 in all subjects except third grade reading, seventh grade reading, fourth grade math and seventh grade math, in which results showed a slight decline, according to TEA data.

Zooming out

The standardized tests were redesigned in 2023 following the passage of House Bill 3906 in 2019 and were administered almost exclusively online.

Across the state, a similar or higher percentage of students met expectations for these grade levels this year in comparison to 2022, as previously reported by Community Impact.

What’s next

Parents can access their student’s scores at www.texasassessment.gov.

On Sept. 28, the TEA will issue accountability ratings for districts and public schools across the states, scored on an A-F scale based on Student Achievement, School Progress and Closing the Gaps for at-risk students.

Community Impact reached out to DSISD officials and will update the story with any comments made regarding STAAR scores.
