Austin ISD will hold job fairs July 19 and July 21 to fill teacher vacancies and other positions at the district’s central warehouse.

Teacher vacancies have increased to 529 from 209 in July 2021, according to a July 18 news release from the district.

Teachers hired to work in the district can expect benefits such as Social Security, paid health insurance, a pension and incentive pay.

Retention bonuses are now being offered to eligible employees and stipends to prospective hires.

“We wanted to make sure we didn’t lose ground with teacher pay and we were competitive,” AISD Chief Financial Officer Eduardo Ramos said during the board’s budget meeting June 24.

The July 19 fair will be held at AISD’s central office, 4000 S. I-35 Frontage Road, Austin, from 9 to 11 a.m. This fair is for teaching jobs.

The July 21 fair will be held at AISD’s central warehouse, 3701 Woodbury Drive, Austin, from 9 a.m.-noon. This fair is for food service, maintenance and transportation positions.
