There were 220 new confirmed coronavirus cases in Travis County on June 17, the highest single-day count in the area since the pandemic began.

There were also two new coronavirus-related deaths June 17, bringing the county total to 108.

An estimated 3,817 individuals have recovered, while a total of 4,991 have had COVID-19 in the county.

Current hospitalizations in the metropolitan area increased to 173, with 21 new individuals being admitted into hospital facilities.

The Travis County record comes one day after Gov. Greg Abbott announced Texas saw its highest daily positive COVID-19 case count yet, at 2,622 cases.
