Locally owned gift shop The Shabby Wick closed its doors in late April.

The details

Owner Nikki Lourens said on a social media post that due to "personal and family matters" she had made the "difficult decision" to close the store.

The Shabby Wick will continue to offer candles and refills online. Lourens first began the store as an online business in 2016 for her candles. She began selling at pop-up markets before finally opening the storefront in October of 2023.

The background

The Shabby Wick's storefront, located near Lucky Lab Coffee Co., offered artisan gifts, jewelry, candles and bouquets from a variety of small-business owners and artists. The shop also offered workshops led by local businesses and artists, including a candle-making workshop led by Lourens.
