Local restaurant chain Trudy’s Tex-Mex closed its South Austin location on May 6.

Trudy’s announced the closure through a social media post.

“Plans for the future growth of Trudy’s is in the works, and we are looking to re-engage with the local artists and re-energize some of the cool elements in the iconic North Star location while we look to bring new locations to the Austin market,” the post reads.

The post did not give a reason for the closure, and Trudy's Tex-Mex did not immediately respond to comment. The restaurant, which opened in 1977, filed for bankruptcy in 2020 and was purchased by a private equity firm that same year. Trudy's North Star in North Austin will remain open.
