The indoor space of The Hive, a South Austin coffee shop and bar, temporarily closed in March.

Owner Shelly Weiser said the building is old, and they have been dealing with plumbing issues and permitting delays since March.

The Hive partially reopened on April 11. Until she can reopen inside, Weiser said they are offering outdoor seating in the backyard with new hours and a modified menu.

What's different?

The Hive is now closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, though Weiser said she would like to work on booking private events such as birthday parties and catering events to have something on those days.

The coffee shop will also focus on hosting weekly recurring evening events including open mics, movie nights, bingo, comedy nights and kids' music. Events will be posted on their website.

Menu-wise, Weiser said they can’t serve espresso-based drinks, but other drinks including cold brew, lemonade, beer and wine are still available. Burgers and breakfast sandwiches are on the food menu online and in person.

The Hive’s new hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday through Thursday and Sunday; and 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Weiser said a complete reopening date is to be determined.
