The original Salt Lick BBQ restaurant in Driftwood remains open after a fire was reported in one of its two buildings Feb. 20.
“Unfortunately, we've had a little fire in one of our buildings today,” the restaurant posted to its Facebook page. “Everything is under control, and everyone is OK, and we are still open, but please be aware wait time may be a bit longer today since we are only able to be open in one of our buildings.”
The fire was attributed to a “flame or ember from cooking” that ignited in a grease duct, according to a statement from Kimberly Hilsenbeck, communications manager for Hays County.
The statement also revealed there were no injuries, and no customers were in the building where the fire began. The fire was contained to one building, and damages may exceed $25,000.
Salt Lick BBQ opened its Driftwood location in 1967.
