More than half of Travis County's more than 925,000 registered voters cast an early ballot this fall ahead of Election Day, Nov. 5.

The big picture

During early voting Oct. 21-Nov. 1, a total of 480,364 Travis County residents cast their ballots. A vast majority—more than 460,000—voted in person, in a drop-off from 2020 when more than 11% of early votes were cast by mail.
Turnout also fell below the record 553,290 early voters the county saw in 2020, although that period was also extended with several extra days due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the same number of early voting days only, this year outpaced 2020 by tens of thousands of voters.
This year's early voting share was also the highest ever through the standard 12 days of early voting even with a growing registered voter pool.

The 2024 general election drew 51.93% of county voters to the polls early, just ahead of 2016's 51.07% early voting turnout and above 2020's 48.76% share through 12 days—although early turnout went on to reach nearly 65% at the end of that year's extended time frame.
Of the county's more than three dozen polling locations open during early voting, the five most popular ended up being:
  • Pflugerville ISD Rock Gym: 21,449 voters
  • Bee Cave City Hall: 20,651 voters
  • Ben Hur Shrine Center: 20,116 voters
  • Austin Oaks Church: 19,749 voters
  • Southpark Meadows: 19,581 voters
The location with the next-highest turnout was the Balcones Woods Shopping Center with 17,055 ballots cast, while the Anita Ferrales Coy Facility in East Austin reported the fewest voter visits with 1,816.
