Tornado warning issued by National Weather Service for Hays County; road closures ensue

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for portions of Hays County including Buda, Kyle, Mountain City and into Travis County and the Austin area effective through 6:15 p.m. March 21.

According to the warning, ping pong ball-size hail is possible.


Hays County has issued a statement that a tornado has been confirmed near Buda and urges residents to take precautions and seek shelter in basements or an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

The 200 block of Roland Lane in Kyle is closed. Multiple roads are closed in Buda as well including a portion of CR 149 near I-35 and two portions of Dacy Lane near CR 149.
