Editor's note: This story was edited to include an accurate timeline of the road bond construction related to Bebee Road.

Drivers should plan for intermittent lane closures and possible detours along Bebee Road, between Dacy Lane and Anton Drive, from May 27 to June 27, according to the city of Kyle’s website.

The overview

Crews will intermittently close lanes to remove old asphalt, repair street failures and apply a new asphalt overlay, according to the website.

The city website says residents along the affected stretch are asked to park in their driveways rather than on the street while work is underway. Drivers should obey traffic signs and exercise caution around heavy equipment and flaggers.

If fresh oil is applied during the process, drivers are advised to reduce speed and watch for posted warnings.

Something to note

The current construction on Bebee Road is not related to the projects planned under the Kyle 2022 Road Bond, according to city staff. Instead, crews are completing independent interim maintenance to keep the roadway safe and drivable until the larger bond-funded work begins.

The bond includes two upcoming projects on Bebee Road:
  • West segment: Construction of a new 1-mile stretch of four-lane minor arterial road, including a two-lane roundabout at the intersection of Bebee Road and Kohlers Crossing
  • East segment: Widening and reconstructing a 1.8-mile section into a four-lane minor arterial from Sunlight Boulevard to east of Green Pastures Road. This portion also includes three two-lane roundabouts at Dacy Lane, Goforth Road South and Goforth Road North.
What’s next?

Construction on the west segment is expected to begin in late summer and finish by mid-2027. Work on the east segment is set to start in early 2027 and wrap up by mid-2029, according to city staff.
